Gordon Walker Greenlee

Gordon Walker Greenlee, 82, died peacefully at his home on November 19th. Gordon was born in Oakland, California to Frederick and Roberta (Oliver) Greenlee. He was a sixth generation California­n, whose family settled in California Pre-Gold Rush. Gordon grew up in Piedmont and received his BA from U.C. Berkeley. He was a proud member of Beta Theta Pi and the Cal Rugby Team. After graduation, he served as 1st Lieutenant in the US Army from 1960-1964. Gordon was an entreprene­ur, starting Occidental paper, then moving onto The Brassworks. He was an avid boater and a founding member of the Little Venice Yacht Club. He cherished time at his family’s home in Lake Tahoe, racing Gar Wood boats. He was a passionate member of The Bohemian Club and an ardent Bear Backer; loving his Cal Bears. Gordon was known for his lively intellect, charismati­c wit and infectious smile.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Oliver and his sister, Betsy Wagener. He is survived by his wife Lowry, his five children, Lisa (Steve Clawson), Geoff (Sonia), Phyllis (John Walker), Rob (Marisol), and Nick (Nicole), his grandchild­ren, Sydney, Justine, Jackson and Carter, and his canine companion, Gus.

A private family celebratio­n of life will be held at a later date.
