Josephine Nieri

Josephine Nieri, nee Menta, passed away quietly in San Francisco on November 20th. “Jo” was born there on January 16, 1930 to Leo and Millie Menta, both Italian immigrants. She is pre-deceased by her older sister Lorraine and younger brother, Leo Menta.

Jo was married to Lawrence Paul Nieri from 1950 until his death in 2001. Their son is Michael Nieri, of San Francisco. His children are Anthony, Dante and Gia, whose mother Janet Payne remained close to Josephine. Michael is now married to Lindsay Nieri, and stepfather to Mia. Jo’s daughter Michele lives in Los Angeles with her husband, John Richards, whose children are John, Natalie and Carolyn. All the children will miss “Gramma Jo,” as will her sister-in-law, Beverly Rullhausen, of San Francisco and her many friends in the Bay Area.

Memorial service will be in the chapel at the Italian Cemetery, 540 F St. Colma at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec 7. In lieu of flowers, donations to alexandriahouse. org, housing for women would be appreciated.
