Vernon Conrad Scherba
May 16, 1927 - November 28, 2018
Beloved husband of 57 years of the late Gladys Wallace Scherba and adored father of Janice Philip (David) Vincent Scherba (Carol) Mary Ann O’Leary (Michael) and Ann Marie Fahy (David) passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 28, 2018.
A native San Franciscan, Vern was the youngest son of the late Ethel and Isador Scherba. Vern was a Graduate of Balboa High School Class of Spring ‘45. Vern was a proud veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He also served in the U. S. Forestry Service and was also a member of SFPD in the 1950’s. Vern was a principle and owner along with his brothers the late Theodore and the late Donald Scherba of Scherba’s Auto Stores, Inc.
Loving grandfather of Brian Philip (Bridget) Dana Aspillera, Jen Scherba, Matthew Scherba (Brooke), Kevin Philip (Joshua Miller), Chris O’Leary, Sean O’Leary, Jon Scherba, Brandon O’Leary, Anthony Fahy, and Brent Fahy. Cherished great grandfather to Drew, Daniel, and David Aspillera, Sabrina and Olivia Philip and Logan and Violet Scherba. Loving companion and friend to Gladys Schneider the past ten years.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Burlingame at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. Interment following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Vern Scherba to be made to the following:
