6,500 feet: Five Lakes Trail, 6,500 feet, trailhead adjacent to Alpine Meadows; D.L. Bliss, 6,500 feet, trailhead at gate en route to Rubicon Trail for overlook of Lake Tahoe.

6,000 feet: Glen Alpine, 6,400 feet, trailhead past marina for Fallen Leaf Lake, for Lake Gilmore and Mount Tallac.

5,500 feet: Loch Leven Lakes, 5,900 feet, trailhead near Big Bend Visitor Center at Cisco Grove.
