Spotlight on: Raiders S Marcus Gilchrist. Much praise has been heaped upon the arm strength of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and the first-year starter has the playmaking ability and downfield threats to match. That combination will test an entire Raiders safety group that has had its hands in plenty of big plays allowed by the defense this year. If Gilchrist, Karl Joseph, et al., allow the likes of Tyreek Hill to beat them deep, it could be a very long afternoon.

Roster report: Raiders — CB Leon Hall (back) is out. WR Martavis Bryant (knee), DT Maurice Hurst (ankle), DE Arden Key (knee) and CB Daryl Worley (shoulder) are questionable. Chiefs — no injuries reported.

THINGS TO WATCH

 Tyreek Hill is one of the league’s most dangerous returners with five returns for touchdowns (four punts, one kickoff) in three NFL seasons. Raiders rookie punter Johnny Townsend has been inconsistent and his 52-yard punt was returned for a touchdown last weekend in Baltimore. Sunday would be a good time for Townsend to be on top of his game.

 The Chiefs released running back Kareem Hunt on Friday after video surfaced of him pushing and kicking a woman in a Cleveland hotel in February. Hunt led the Chiefs this season in carries (181), rushing yards (824) and rushing touchdowns (seven). While trivial in the scope of the matter, the Chiefs will have to adjust to his absence.  The Raiders activated nose tackle Justin Ellis from injured reserve Saturday. Ellis, who hasn’t played since suffering a foot injury in Week 1, was supposed to be a primary run stopper for the Raiders this season. Their defense ranks last in the NFL against the run, allowing 151.4 yards a game. Ellis won’t solve that by himself, but he could help the cause.
