H.W. Bush — what could go wrong? Nauert was a pundit with Fox News, and for Republican­s there can be no more impressive credential.

They’re assured of confirmati­on in the Republican-controlled Senate. How long they’ll have their jobs is another question.

Nauert will be safe as U.N. ambassador as long as she doesn’t screw up too badly in public. But Barr is playing a losing game as Trump’s attorney general.

At some point soon, something will land on his plate that requires him either to do the president’s corrupt bidding, angering the public, or refusing to do so, angering Trump.

Either way, it’ll be time for another pick.

Show me the money: I love the tug-of-war between Mayor London Breed and the supervisor­s over how to spend the city’s $181 million tax windfall.

For years the supervisor­s have been calling for more spending on homelessne­ss. The voters agreed by passing Propositio­n C in November to tax the town’s biggest businesses to pay for more homeless programs.
