John Franzoia, retired attorney and Walnut Creek resident passed away on November 27, 2018 of a fatal heart attack. He was 90 years old.

Born and raised in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco, John attended Saint Ignatius College Prep, the University of San Francisco and the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. In between earning his Baccalaureate and Juris Doctorate, he served in the US Army as an Officer in the Korean War.

John was a practicing attorney in Oakland for more than four decades where he co-founded the law firm Turner and Franzoia. “John’s clients were his friends. That’s the highest honor for an attorney,” said his former law partner Peter Turner.

He truly had a blessed family life. John married his sweetie Glenna Peterson in 1956. After the first three years of marriage, John and Glenna settled in Pleasant Hill, then Walnut Creek where he resided for over 50 years.

John was a loving husband, father and a good friend. A generous host, he loved celebrations with family and friends. A lifelong lover of music, he was a jazz aficionado and also thoroughly enjoyed the Grateful Dead. John was passionate about sports, especially his beloved Oakland Raiders, Oakland A’s and the USF Dons. He was a proud and voracious gardener and greatly appreciated warm, sunny days in his yard. Over the last few years of his life, he mastered home cooking (and food shopping).

John is survived by his wife Glenna, his four daughters Theresa Arcudi (Gary), Sandra Harris (Richard), Barbara Franzoia, Patricia Franzoia and four grandchildren: John Arcudi, Margaret Arcudi, Glenna Harris and Sydney Harris.
