Franklin, the state’s toprated sophomore player, evened the score with his long touchdown catch on a beautifully thrown pass from Jack Alexander with 8:20 left in the second quarter.

The Bears took their first lead a couple of minutes later when Hawkins rushed for a 2-yard score, one play after

The defense, led by linebacker Daniel Heimuli (two sacks, interception), shut down Lincoln (11-5) from there.

Franklin, who scored three touchdowns in a 27-20 NorCal championship win over Eureka, took a short pass and rambled 25 yards to the Lincoln 3 early in the fourth quarter. He carried several defenders on his back.
