-

On Friday, December 14, 2018, Eladio Santiago Marcelino, loving husband and father of five children, passed away at the age of 86.

Eladio (Lading) was born on May 9, 1932 in Morong, Rizal, Philippines to Paula and Tomas Marcelino. He was the second of eight children. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Far East University in Manila, Philippines. After college, Lading worked in computer data processing at Clark Air Base in Angeles City and Caltex in Manila. On May 5, 1963, he married Angelita (Babie) San Miguel. They had four sons, Jerome, Nelson, Gerard and Thomas, and one daughter, Maria Angelita (Joy).

In 1969, Lading came alone to San Francisco to build a new life for his young family, who joined him in 1975. He worked for more than 30 years in data processing and computer technology for the City and County of San Francisco’s water department.

His home on Augusta Street in San Francisco was always open to generations of family members, especially to relatives who were new to San Francisco and just starting out. He was happy that so many of his extended family wanted to make a home in the San Francisco Bay Area.

He was a champion for all the City has to offer. Lading was a lifelong fan of the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers. He was president of his neighborhood league in his hometown Pagasa - Ibaba and he continued his love for the sport by being an unwavering fan of the Golden State Warriors and being an even bigger fan of his grandchildren’s basketball teams. Lading was known as a wonderful storyteller, a snappy dresser and a keen mahjong player. He’ll be especially remembered by all the children who received a crisp dollar bill for every visit to the Augusta house. Lading was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, two sons. He is survived by his wife Angelita, four siblings, three children (Jerome, Joy and Thomas), two daughtersin-law and a son-in-law, seven grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Lading will always be remembered for his generosity and hospitality, his love of San Francisco and his dedication to his family.

A prayer service and vigil will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary in Daly City. A funeral service and mass will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in San Francisco.
