C. Todd Conover, Former Comptrolle­r of the Currency, Consultant and Author, Age 79, passed away on December 9, 2018 at a retirement home near his home in Meadow Vista, California. He was born on October 13, 1939 to Mary Dabney (Marshall/ Schneider) and John C. Conover of Bronxville, New York. Todd is a graduate of The Hotchkiss School (‘57) and has an undergradu­ate degree from Yale University (‘60), and an MBA in finance from the Haas School of Business, University of California Berkeley (‘65). He served two years as an officer in the United States Navy. Todd went on to an extraordin­ary career in business, including serving as a consultant with McKinsey & Company, as a founding partner of Edgar, Dunn & Company, as a consulting partner with KPMG Peat Marwick, and as a principal of Starmont Asset Management. He served on the Boards of PacifiCorp and Blount Internatio­nal during his career. He also authored The Art of Astute Investing. Todd served as Comptrolle­r of the Currency of the United States, the Nation’s top bank regulator, from 1981-1985. Todd was a member of the Bohemian Club in San Francisco. Todd leaves behind Sally, his devoted wife of 57 years, two daughters, Kirsten Wiley (Captain Richard Wiley, USN), and Alison Conover Kinnear (Brian Kinnear), and his grandchild­ren Nicholas, Cassidy and Mackenzie Wiley, and Logan and Scott Kinnear. In addition, Todd leaves behind his half-sisters Elizabeth Schneider-Cohen and Jo Carol Conover Bennington and half-brothers John C. Conover, Jr. and Robert A. Conover. Todd is also survived by his uncle Leonard L. Marshall and many first and second cousins, nephews and nieces, as well as his Goldendood­le, Charlie.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Episcopal tradition at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 66 St. Stephen’s Drive, Orinda, CA, 94563 at 11 am on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. The family wishes to receive friends at a reception following the service.
