Vegas falls to Montreal

Montreal’s Phillip Danault, who entered the game with two goals, completed a hat trick late in the third period and Paul Byron scored in overtime as the Canadiens beat the Golden Knights 4-3 in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Danault’s third goal of the game came with 1:25 left in the third period, setting up Byron’s backhand goal 1:59 into OT.

“We’ve talked to him about getting a little bit more involved around the net and creating some scoring chances for himself,” Montreal coach Claude Julien said. “It’s gonna be good for his confidence.” Marc-Andre Fleury made 43 saves for Vegas.

Bruins 5, Predators 2: Patrice Bergeron, who missed the previous 16 games because of a rib injury, had two goals and an assist and David Pastrnak added a goal and two assists for host Boston. Nashville has lost four in a row.

Lightning 6, Oilers 3: Tyler Johnson and Steven Stamkos each scored twice and Nikita Kucherov added a goal and four assists as visiting Tampa Bay won for the 11th time in 12 games. Edmonton has lost three in a row.

Jets 1, Canucks 0: Mark Scheifele scored at 18:28 of the third period and Laurent Brossoit stopped 40 shots for his first career shutout as visiting Winnipeg won for the seventh time in eight games.

Blue Jackets 4, Flyers 3: Cam Atkinson scored two goals and Artemi Panarin had a goal and two assists as visiting Columbus ran its winning streak to three games. Philadelph­ia lost for the first time in three games since interim coach Scott Gordon replaced the fired Dave Hakstol and Carter Hart took over the goaltendin­g duties.

Panthers 2, Red Wings 1: Roberto Luongo made 33 saves and Mike Hoffman and Evegnii Dadonov each scored for visiting Florida.

Blues 3, Flames 1: David Perron had a goal and an assist and Jake Allen made 28 saves as visiting St. Louis Blues dealt Calgary its third straight loss.

Coyotes 6, Avalanche 4: Brad Richardson scored twice in the final 3:39 and host Arizona defeated Colorado.

Sabres 3, Ducks 0: Linus Ullmark made 36 saves and host Buffalo got goals from Rasmus Dahlin and Jeff Skinner in beating Anaheim.

Maple Leafs 5, Rangers 3: Mitch Marner scored twice during a wild third period and host Toronto beat New York. The teams combined for six goals in the final period, including Marner’s empty-net goal with 20 seconds left.

Capitals 4, Senators 0: Pheonix Copley made 35 saves for his first career shutout and visiting Washington beat Ottawa.

Penguins 3, Hurricanes 0: Sidney Crosby set up three goals and Matt Murray made 38 saves for his second shutout this season as visiting Pittsburgh defeated Carolina. Jake Guentzel scored twice and Kris Letang added a goal for the Penguins.

Stars 2, Wild 1: Alexander Radulov scored at 4:50 of overtime as visiting Dallas beat Minnesota, which has lost four in a row.
