Robert Raisner
Robert Raisner passed away peacefully at the age of 73 surrounded by his loving family after a brief bout of pneumonia.
A native San Franciscan, Bob graduated from Washington HS in 1963. He served in the US Army from 1965-1968 as a Nike Missile Electronic Maintenance Specialist, mostly in Germany. He settled in the field of electronic entertainment systems including car stereos, mobile phones, TV & home theater.
Bob married Cornelia Rex in 1973.He replaced his motorcycle with a VW Bus and they honeymooned in Yosemite. They went on to have 3 children; after raising their kids, Bob and Cornelia traveled as often as they could.
Admittedly an eyeglasswearing geek who used pocket protectors in his early years, Bob knew a little bit of everything, excelling in crossword puzzles and trivia games. Photography and reading were lifelong passions. He spent hours recreating electronic gadgets highlighted in Popular Electronics. Bob MacGyver-ed anything broken. He was one of the early Apple Corps members and cobbled together computers for every household member; he later taught himself to create websites.
Bob was a Boy Scout leader/trainer in the 80s and invited the family on many camping trips. He got his private pilot license in 1978 and flew periodically until late into his 60s. He was a long-time member of the SF Sheriff’s Air Squadron.
Bob’s home skills included baking apple pie and building an addition to the house. He loved to gaze into the evening sky, naming the constellations & planets. Walking 1-2 miles daily was routine, and Stow Lake, Sutro Park & Ocean Beach were his favorites. Bob is preceded in death by his brothers James and Richard and parents Manley and Kathleen. He is survived by his wife Cornelia, sons Justin and Ryan, daughter Carolyn, daughter-in-law Carol, and granddaughter Allison. They all loved him dearly and will miss him.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, Dec 22, 10:30 am, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1100 El Camino Real, Colma.
The family would like to extend its warmest gratitude to Bob’s care team at Kaiser Hospital in Redwood City; every doctor and nurse was outstanding in their care and compassion.
