Jean-François Jacques Henri Angevin-Romey

World traveler, linguist, artist, musician, lover… defender of the weak, has left this world for the next adventure. Ultimately succumbing to devastatin­g injuries from a bicycling accident, December 23, 2011. Jean-François began a twenty -seven year career in the army as a US Army Special Forces Green Beret First Lieutenant in Vietnam 1967. His last tour of duty was in Rwanda 1995 after the Hutu and Tutsi massacres.

Not one to retire or shy away from danger, JF traveled to Kabul and Helmand Province, Afghanista­n in 2004 as a security consultant. JF’s consultati­ons extended to many African countries and all things exotic.

A force of nature, sharpshoot­er, sky- diver, excellent dancer, fiercely opinionate­d, wonderful chef; a talent inherited from his French mother and grandmothe­r. JF can never be forgotten, whether you agreed with him or not.

JF leaves behind, Barbara, Candy, Ann and Gloria; his former wives; he loved each of them very much. JF also leaves behind Gloria’s sons Marcos and Jorge, whom he considered his own. Jean-François was born in Paris during the German occupation; this unsettled beginning seemed to mark a life of change and travel.

He was a scholar, educated in France and the United States, a graduate of UC Berkeley. JF earned a doctorate in life; a life fully lived. Predecease­d by his parents, Marie-Juliette Angevin-Romey and Donald Romey, survived by his sister, Marie-Merced Thompson, niece, Romy Thompson, nephew, Skye Thompson, brother-in-law, Shel Thompson; whom he called “brother”.

Jean-François is also survived by, his great love and beautiful companion of many years, Margery Arent-Safir.

In remembranc­e of this unique warrior; stop to save someone, or some furry creature in harm’s way,JF never hesitated to so do. “Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince; And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!”

Interment to take place at Golden Gate National Cemetery on Friday, January 25, 2019 at noon. Passed away after a brief battle with Pancreatic cancer, she was 69. Debbie was a third generation San Franciscan. Born to Jacob and Estell (Lebowitz) Mazur.

Deb graduated from Lowell H.S., class of 1967.

She retired from Southern Pacific R.R. after 30 years. Deb was an avid cat lover and volunteere­d at
