Michele DeVito

-

On her mother Lydia’s 24th birthday, January 10, 1950, Michele DeVito was born by her mother as the most ever greatest birthday gift her father Joseph could claim as a gift truly of his making. Michele bore the dark black hair typical of her Sicilian father and the blue eyes typical of her Swiss mother. As a little girl of 3 she was joined by her baby brother Leo. Her parents were to repeat the children in girl then boy pairs two more times …with Lisa and Brian, and then Gina and Joey as the final pair, making a healthy family of 6 kids with Michele at the lead.

As a child, Michele was adventurous and took her brother and her childhood friends on daily neighborhood explorations, and with the younger siblings was the main baby sitter and head cook of the household children’s experimental cooking projects. As a young woman Michele went to work for the US Government General Services Administration, and worked a lifetime there as an Administrator until her retirement in 2015. She was a thoughtful sister, aunt, and friend, and as the family “switch board operator” was the first to celebrate all the birthdays, send cards and gifts, and acknowledge hell raising deeds of the gang. She was strong willed all her life, independent, very generous, stylish and blessed with wonderful Sicilian good looks. On December 18, 2018 she passed away peacefully in her sleep in the family home, surrounded by her loving relatives. She is survived by her daughter Michele Philip, her 93 year old mother Lydia DeVito, siblings Leo DeVito, Lisa DeVito, Brian DeVito(deceased), Gina Webster and Joe DeVito, nieces and nephews Andre DeVito, Vince Dvorak, Jeannine Dvorak(deceased), Lauren Bryant, Brian Webster, Jessica DeVito, Amanda DeVito, Ian DeVito, and Yvette DeVito.

Friends may visit after 12:00pm on Friday, 12/28 with a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City. Please donate to the American Lung Association in Michele’s honor, in lieu of flowers or gifts.
