Gordon passed away peacefully at home on Monday, surrounded by his loving family. He was 79 years of age. Gordon was born in San Francisco to Alec and Florence Chalmers. Gordon was a San Francisco native attending Balboa High School and later attending San Francisco State University earning his bachelor’s degree along with his teaching credential­s which lead to a 50+ year career in the San Francisco Public School District. Over the span of his career, he served in many capacities from teaching history/government/civics to later in his career, what he felt most passionate about, serving as a college counselor assisting young adults to realize their goals/dreams of attending college.

Gordon is survived by Beverly Chalmers, his loving wife of almost 57 years, son Greg Chalmers, and daughter Kellie St. Clair. He is Grandfathe­r to Sondra Wermes, Alex and Lauren St. Clair, and Ryan Chalmers. He is Great Grandfathe­r to Dominic, Avery, and Olivia Wermes. Gordon is also survived by his brother Allan (Linda) Chalmers, and his nephews, Adam and Craig Chalmers.

There will be a Celebratio­n of Life for Gordon at Skylawn Memorial Park on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, beginning at 11am. A reception will immediatel­y follow the service.
