Ferrari’s 3, Bouyea’s steal seal USF win

Frankie Ferrari hit a key three-pointer and teammate Jamaree Bouyea’s steal and two free throws with 4.1 seconds left helped visiting USF beat Pepperdine 72-69 on Saturday night.

Ferrari was just 2-for-11 from the field before nailing the pull-up, contested three-pointer with 14.2 seconds left.

Charles Minlend scored 21 points and Jimbo Lull tied his career high with 18 points for USF.

Lull’s dunk with 4:25 to play gave the Dons (14-2, 2-0 WCC) their biggest lead at 63-57. Colbey Ross scored the first 10 points in a 12-4 run for Pepperdine (8-8, 1-1) over the next four minutes that made it 69-67 when Kameron Edwards hit two free throws with 26 seconds left.

Santa Clara 71, USF 66: Lindsey Vanallen scored 23 points and Tia Hay made four free throws in the final 10 seconds of OT to finish with 21 for the visiting Broncos (8-6, 1-2 WCC), who erased a 12-point halftime and beat the Dons (5-9, 1-2).
