Our Beloved Mother thankfully transitioned from her Earthly realm on Friday December 28th, surrounded by her family.

Mom was born in San Francisco, CA to her loving, hard-working parents, Patrick Emmett Hagerty and Marcella Theresa Hagerty (nee Murphy). Marcie grew up in Mission Dolores parish where she became friends with a plethora of like minded people including future boyfriend and husband Jimmy Dugan. Marcie grew up in a time and place where cousins from the Hagerty and Murphy Clans were friends and long-time. That number grew exponentially when Mom married into the Dugan Clan. Marcie was a proud graduate of Notre Dame High School, San Francisco, and a dedicated supporter of the Sisters of Notre Dame.

In 1965 the family moved to San Jose’s Evergreen area where Mom enjoyed many happy years and lifelong friendships. Pre-deceased by her one and only, husband James Thomas Michael Dugan (1928-1976) much too soon. Fond and loving big sister for the late James P Hagerty of Santa Clara and the late Sister Lois Hagerty, SND and Champion for Anthony Hagerty, her beloved youngest brother.

Loving Mother of Patrick (Patricia Doyle), Deirdre (Jim McDonald), Tim (Lorna Tsuda), Terence (Susana Chan), Mary Kate (Ward Hallock), James (Tom Garigliano), Michael (Cheryl George), and Sean (Debbie Jaques), and former daughters-inlaws Jeanne Dugan and Sandy Dugan. Doting, devoted and adoring Grandmother of Brendan, Bridget, Alison, John, Claire, Aleana, Colin, Emma, Sheamus, Matthew, Isabel, Amber, Tara, Michael, Brianne, Joe, Liam, Tessa and many great grandchildren.

Marcie will be remembered for her strength of character, personal faith, and love of Family. Mom loved to travel to places such as The Holy Land, Ireland, and the Great Wall of China, especially when in cahoots with her loyal cousin Joan Meyn and daughter Deirdre.

Mom gently insisted on walking for AIDS, Alzheimer’s and Breast Cancer awareness. She cheered the loudest when a grandkid got a hit. She was displeased when the 49ers lost, “Oh, that’s too bad!”, and loved it when the Giants won.

Mom was a dedicated and tireless volunteer at every parish she was a member of; Mission Dolores, San Francisco, Most Holy Trinity, San Jose and St. Justin’s, Santa Clara. She was also a volunteer at Kaiser Hospital, Santa Clara.

Grateful thanks to the staff at Marymount Villa in San Leandro for their 10 years of kindness in their care of Mom.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Mission Dolores Basilica, 16th and Dolores Streets, on Friday January 11, 2019 at 11 AM. Parking is available in the lot adjacent to Mission Dolores Boys School at the Church Street entrance. Further details will be available at that time.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Research Association.
