Robert James Magarrell of San Francisco died on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at home after a long and heroic battle against dementia/Alzheimer’s disease. Robert was born on September 8, 1939 in San Francisco, California. He attended Lincoln high school. Robert also proudly served in the US Army. In 1969 Robert married Emma (Agius) and together they have four children. Robert worked as a Boilermake­r throughout the Bay Area for over 30 years and was a proud member of the Internatio­nal Brotherhoo­d of Boilermake­rs Union Local 549. Charming and curious by nature, Robert was a an unique soul who used his natural intellect and broad knowledge about almost any subject to touch the lives and hearts of all and made everyone he talked to feel important and special. Robert was a gun and archery enthusiast and loved watches, cars, movies, television, country and jazz music, sweet desserts and most importantl­y, his family. He will be greatly missed. Robert is survived by his loving wife Emma; his eldest daughter Tina and sonin-law Jim, his eldest son Robert Luther Anthony and daughter-in-law Andrea, his youngest son Michael, his youngest daughter Michelle and son-in-law Raul; and his grandchild­ren Brendan, Siobhan, Raul Jr., Myles, Maximilian­o, Mellieha, and Lilliana. A memorial service will be held on January 11, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Driscoll’s Valencia Street Serra Mortuary located at 1465 Valencia St. in San Francisco California. If so inclined, the family asks for donations in memory of Robert to be made to the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n.
