Noreen Davies Stollberg was over 100 years old when she passed away on December 24, 2018. She enjoyed living at the University Retirement Center at Davis for the past 18 years. Prior to that she was a long time resident of Redwood City, California. Noreen was born on September 18, 1918 in Rawson, Putnam County Ohio. She was the second child of Virginia Corson Davies and Ellis Davies. She studied nursing and graduated with her RN in 1939 from Cincinnati General Hospital. She served as a civilian nurse in Panama in 1941 and 1942 and worked for a number of years in the nursing field. She married Robert Jay Stollberg on January 1, 1943 and they moved from Ohio to the Bay Area in 1949. They were married for 61 years before he passed away in 2004. Her husband was a professor at San Francisco State University for many years. They lived in India, Uganda and Taiwan while he taught science to local teachers. They traveled extensivel­y together. Her main life work was a commitment to her family and friends. She was a long time member of Rebekahs. She is survived by three of her children, Sue Anderson, Donna Kutner and Bill Stollberg, four grandchild­ren, three great grandchild­ren, and her sister Jane. Noreen was predecease­d by her husband Robert, her sister Alice, her brother Bernard, and her son Jes.
