A touch of Vegas luck in overtime

Vegas defenseman Shea Theodore scored 1:19 into overtime when Chicago’s Carl Dahlstrom slid the puck into his own net, lifting the Golden Knights to a 4-3 victory over the Blackhawks in Chicago on Saturday night. Theodore was driving when Dahlstrom knocked the puck away and through the legs of goaltender Collin Delia. It was Theodore’s first goal since he scored twice in an 8-3 victory at Chicago on Nov. 27. Alex Tuch, Ryan Carpenter and Paul Stastny also scored for Vegas, which won for the eighth time in nine games. Marc-Andre Fleury made 20 saves.

Tuch extended his points streak to a franchise-record nine games.

Blue Jackets 2, Capitals 1: Cam Atkinson scored his 25th goal, Artemi Panarin connected in overtime and Columbus beat host Washington, which lost All-Star goaltender Braden Holtby to an eye injury. Holtby took a stick to the left eye from Atkinson through his mask in the second period. “He’ll be getting evaluated later tonight still,” coach Todd Reirden said. “Our initial discussion­s with our trainer and doctors, that’s a serious thing.”

Devils 3, Flyers 2: Rookie Mackenzie Blackwood made 32 saves in his return from an injury, helping New Jersey defend its home ice. Damon Severson, Nico Hischier and Miles Wood scored for the Devils. Coyotes 3, Oilers 2: Conor Garland scored two power-play goals, including one that went in off his face and left him bloodied, as Arizona won in Edmonton.

Kings 5, Penguins 2: Jonathan Quick stopped 38 shots to get his 301st win, leading Los Angeles to a home win and snapping Pittsburgh’s six-game road winning streak. Rangers 2, Islanders 1: Mats Zuccarello scored late in the third period and the Rangers earned their first victory at Barclays Center. Zuccarello redirected the winner with his skate from in front of the net for his fifth goal of the season.

Lightning 5, Sabres 3: Steven Stamkos scored the tie-breaking goal with 5:16 remaining to lead Tampa Bay to a road win.

Bruins 3, Maple Leafs 2: David Pastrnak scored a tie-breaking goal late in the second period for visiting Boston. Sean Kuraly had a goal and two assists, and David Krecji also scored for the Bruins.

Canadiens 3, Avalanche 0: Carey Price stopped 28 shots for his third shutout of the season as Montreal won at home.

Red Wings 5, Wild 2: Tyler Bertuzzi recorded his first career hat trick and visiting Detroit ended a three-game losing streak

Blues 3, Stars 1: Rookie goalie Jordan Binnington won his third straight start, Vladimir Tarasenko scored two goals and St. Louis won on the road. Binnington, who has played in six NHL games, is 3-0 in three starts.

Briefly: Blues centers Tyler Bozak (shoulder) and Robert Thomas (concussion) were placed on injured reserve . ... The Devils activated forward Marcus Johansson, who missed 10 games due to an upper-body injury.

Mitty was fresh against a team, led by USC-bound 6-5 center Angel Jackson, that allows 43 points per game.

Jackson finished with nine points and 11 rebounds. Silvia Fonongaloa, a 6-1 freshman, led the Pride (10-6) with 10 points.

“Salesian is a great team, but I thought we did a great job holding them down in the first half,” Jones said. Jackson “is really tough down low. I look forward playing against her in the Pac (12) next year.”
