Vaina Borsi

-

Passed away peacefully on January 9, 2019 at the age of 96. Beloved wife of the late Robert Borsi; sister of the late Cesare Barambani and Piera Barambani; sister-in-law to Joanne Barambani and the late Vittorio Fumagalli; aunt of Mark Barambani (Julie), Philip Barambani (Stephanie), Valerio Fumagalli (Marta), Paola Barri (Maurizio), and Roberto Fumagalli (Lucia). Vaina also leaves behind beloved family and friends throughout the Bay Area, Bakersfield, and Mantello, Italy.

The eldest of three siblings, Vaina was raised in Italy, where she met Robert and they married on April 7, 1951. After WWII, struggling to make ends meet waiting tables in Switzerland, they took a leap of faith and moved to the United States. Together, they started a successful business. After semi-retiring, she worked with friends at Macys as a Marker. She was active with the Italian Catholic Federation, loved gardening, and was a fantastic cook who enjoyed her “hi-balls” with Robert after a hard day’s work. She learned to drive in middle age and was always elegantly dressed with her hair perfectly styled. Widowed for nearly 35 years, Vaina is reunited with her beloved Robert.
