Lightning win again, are 1st to 80 points

The league-best Tampa Bay Lightning are finding different ways to get wins. They needed their goalie to cement their latest victory over the New York Rangers.

Steven Stamkos scored in the second period to give Tampa Bay a threegoal lead, Louis Domingue stopped 31 shots and the Lightning held on to beat the host Rangers 3-2 Saturday night.

“We got in our groove after the first,” said Domingue, who had 15 saves in the third period to improve to 17-4-0 this season. “Our forecheck has been awesome. We get some huge blocked shots and there you have it.”

Domingue got the start after Andrei Vasilevskiy blanked the Islanders 1-0 in a shootout win on Friday night.

Yanni Gourde and Erik Cernak also scored to help the Lightning get their 39th win and become the first team to reach 80 points this season — 15 points ahead of secondplace Toronto in the Atlantic Division.

Jets 9, Ducks 3: Jack Roslovic had his first career hat trick and host Winnipeg scored a franchise-record six goals in the first period in the rout of Anaheim. Bryan Little scored twice and had one assist for Winnipeg, which has won three straight and seven consecutive at home. The nine goals set a franchise record for most goals scored in a game at home and tied the franchise record for most goals scored in a game. Flyers 5, Oilers 4: Nolan Patrick scored 2:01 into overtime and host Philadelphia extended its winning streak to a season-best seven games. Edmonton has lost four in a row and 13 of 18. Travis Konecny and Claude Giroux scored in the third to pull Philadelphia even. Stars 3, Predators 1: Blake Comeau and Mattias Janmark scored late in the third period for visiting Dallas, which has won four straight. Calle Jarnkrok scored for Nashville, whose three-game winning streak was snapped.

Devils 3, Canadiens 2: Nico Hischier scored at 1:56 of overtime after tying it midway through the third period and Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 37 shots for visiting New Jersey. Maple Leafs 3, Penguins 2: Zach Hyman snapped a tie late in the second period and Garret Sparks made 28 saves to lead host Toronto. Sidney Crosby and Teddy Blueger scored for Pittsburgh, which was without Evgeni Malkin again because of an upper-body injury.

Red Wings 2, Senators 0: Jonathan Bernier stopped 35 shots for his first shutout of the season for visiting Detroit, which won its third straight. Blues 4, Blue Jackets 2: Vladimir Tarasenko had a goal and two assists as visiting St. Louis returned from the All-Star break and a bye week. Blackhawks 4, Wild 3: Erik Gustafsson scored his second goal of the game 1:19 into overtime as visiting Chicago won its fourth straight. Patrick Kane had an assist to extend his point streak to 11 games. Panthers 3, Golden Knights 1: Mike Hoffman’s third-period goal put host Florida ahead to stay. Vegas lost its fourth straight game for the first time in its short franchise history. Canucks 5, Avalanche 1: Jake Virtanen and Antoine Roussel each had a goal and an assist as visiting Vancouver built an early lead. Jacob Markstrom had 34 saves as Vancouver moved to 4-1-2 in its past seven. Islanders 4, Kings 2: Michael Dal Colle got the tiebreaking goal as host New York scored three times in less than five minutes late in the third period to stretch its point streak to eight games (6-0-2).
