Michael Edward Parodi “Coach”

-

Born May 30, 1949, patriarch and heart of his family, peacefully entered into God’s care January 26, 2019 with his wife, daughter and son at his side after a valiant battle against Alzheimer’s. Treasured husband of 46 years to Elizabeth (Baiocchi). She was his “Lizzie” and the cherished mother of Katherine and Michael Parodi. Mike was the loving father-in-law to Katie Parodi and the adored Papa to Marco Vincenzo and Lilie Rose Parodi.

Beloved son of the late Ben and Barbara Parodi, cherished brother of Denise Allen and Ben Parodi. Endeared brother-in-law of Katherine Piccinini, Louis Allen and Laurie Parodi. Uncle Mike to Victor (Debbie) Dollosso, Daniel (Jonna) Dollosso, Colleen (Kevin) Kirby-Banas, Julie (Sal) Dollosso-Cutino, John Kirby, Ben and Alyssa Parodi. Great-Uncle to Victor, Dean, Dante, Cienna, Madelyn, Kaylani and Vincenzo. Loving cousin to many Schenone and Parodi’s. Loving nephew to Virginia Sullivan and Irene Marchetti. Great buddy to many lifelong friends. Revered friend, teacher and coach. Mike graduated Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in 1963; followed by Archbishop Riordan High School in 1967. He received his BS, Physical Education from San Francisco State in 1971.

After a 41 year teaching career, Mike retired from Riordan in June 2013 and from his part time teaching position at CCSF in 2015.

Mike began his football coaching career the Fall of 1967 at Riordan. He was Head Varsity Football Coach from 1974 – 1979 for the Riordan Crusaders, after which time he accepted an assistant position for the City College of San Francisco Ram’s football team. Mike coached linebackers for the first few years at City, on the defensive side of the ball, then moved to coaching running backs for the bulk of his career for the CCSF Rams, approximately 35 years.

Sadly due to illness, Mike retired his football career at the end of the 2014 season. It was a very sad day in the Parodi home, the end of an era for sure.

Mike was a proud and loving Papa, enthusiastically cheering at Marco’s Little League or football games, and at Lilie’s soccer and dance recitals.

Mike will be fondly remembered for his love and devotion to family, and kind generous heart. He had two passions in life, Family and Football. He was dedicated and disciplined, giving 100% at all times.

Mike and Lizzie were high school sweethearts, married 46 amazing years. They had a full and loving marriage, busy with family, traveling, and living life. All things beautiful last forever, kept within sweet memory. Babe, I will love you forever. The two greatest and most precious gifts Mike has given the world are his children Kacky and Mikey. And so, his legacy lives on.

The family gratefully acknowledges his devoted caregivers Fiona Vatuvei, Atria Foster Square Memory Care, and Sutter Health Hospice.
