_1 Plane crash: Four Florida residents and two dogs died when their private plane crashed into a wooded area of central North Carolina. The State Highway Patrol said Saturday the four victims lived in the Naples, Fla., area and were traveling from there to Easton, Md. The state patrol identified the dead as: Gregory Boll, 57; Evva Leigh Boll, 48; Roberta Laquidara, 52; and Felix Laquidara, 53. A National Transportation Safety Board spokesman said the agency received a report that a plane crashed about 1:45 p.m. Friday about 40 miles east of Raleigh.
_2 Subway derailment: A subway car derailed in Boston on Saturday, sending nine people to the hospital. Emergency officials said none of the injuries was life-threatening. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority said the accident occurred when a Green Line subway car derailed in a tunnel near Kenmore Square. The cause of the derailment is under investigation. The incident caused major delays on the public transit system.
_3 Carriage struck: A pickup truck rear-ended an Amish horse-drawn carriage in southern Michigan, killing two children and injuring three others who were in the carriage. State police said the two adults and five children who were in the carriage were ejected when the truck struck it Friday night in Algansee Township, a farming community. The children who were killed — 6 and 2 years old — were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other children were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and a woman also suffered serious injuries. Sgt. Todd Price told ABC News that the pickup truck’s driver was intoxicated and is being held in jail.
_4 Fake social worker: A woman has been arrested for investigation of attempted kidnapping after allegedly posing as a social worker in Santa Ana and trying to persuade a mother to hand over her newborn baby, authorities said Saturday. Santa Ana police said the 38-year-old was booked but her name was not released. Detectives are working with sheriff ’s departments in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties on possibly related investigations. The mother told KABC-TV the woman came to her door Friday and told her she was there to take her 1-week-old baby into protective custody. The mother refused and the woman threatened to return with sheriff ’s deputies. Family members recorded the woman on video as she left.
_5 Clinton family death: Hillary Clinton’s brother has died. The former U.S. senator and Democratic presidential candidate announced Saturday on Twitter her youngest brother, Tony Rodham, died Friday. Clinton remembered him as a kind and generous person who could walk into a room and “light it up with laughter.” She did not say how he died, but said Rodham is survived by his wife, Megan, and three children. He was previously married to Nicole Boxer, daughter of former Sen. Barbara Boxer, Democrat of California. Rodham was born in 1954 and raised in the Chicago suburbs with his siblings, Hillary and Hugh Rodham.
