MICK LASALLE’S MOVIE PICK
This brilliant French film, from writer-director Robin Campillo, unaccountably was never released in the United States, so here’s your chance to see it. It’s a morally complicated film about a middleaged gay businessman (Olivier Rabourdin, in a great performance), who meets a hustler and arranges for the young man to come to his house the next day.
But when he opens the door the next day, he finds not the young man but a little boy, and the businessman finds that he’s been set up by a group of undocumented criminals. From there, the movie goes in directions you could never predict. Suffice it to say, the movie emerges as something of a love story, albeit a strange and unexpected one.
