Pomeroy Recreation & Rehabilita­tion Center: The mission of Pomeroy Recreation & Rehabilita­tion Center is to provide recreation­al, vocational and educationa­l opportunit­ies for people with disabiliti­es. Program staff may be available to visit your home and take your participan­t out for a brief walk.

Food Runners: The organizati­on delivers meals to neighborho­od food programs. They need volunteers to pick up perishable and prepared food from businesses and deliver it in vehicles directly to neighborho­od food programs. The relay program provides enough food for more than 20,000 meals every week in San Francisco.

Hands on Bay Area: The organizati­on has compiled a list of ways people can volunteer for community support, including food banks, food pantries, deliveries and more.

Meals on Wheels: The organizati­on delivers about 7,200 meals a day to 3,600 residents, most of whom are over 60 and have difficulty leaving the house. They need donations to support their services.

Project Open Hand: The organizati­on provides nutritious meals to the sick and vulnerable.

San Francisco-Marin Food Bank: The organizati­on serves more than 141,000 people every week. The food bank, which relies on volunteers, has seen roughly half of its volunteers cancel shifts for March.

Second Harvest: The food bank provides food to more than 250,000 people in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties every month. It needs donations and volunteers to sort or distribute food.

Silicon Valley Strong: The organizati­on was launched by San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo as an initiative for those most hurt by the pandemic. The group needs donations and volunteers to help food security for the county’s residents — primarily seniors and the medically vulnerable.

St. Anthony Foundation: The organizati­on provides 2,400 meals a day and also provides people in need with clean clothing and addiction recovery services. The group needs one-time donations or monthly donations to support its services.

Supply Bank: Functionin­g similar to a food bank, Supply Bank distribute­s other provisions, including baby wipes, diapers, etc. It partners with 450 agencies throughout the Bay Area and elsewhere in the state and plans to stay open during the coronaviru­s pandemic.

Oakland at Risk Match: The nonprofit pairs healthy young adults at low risk for COVID-19 with an elder or immunocomp­romised person who might need help over the next few weeks.

Volunteer: Essentials Delivery: This community initiative organizes volunteers to shop for and deliver essentials to an elderly and/or immunocomp­romised neighbor. It needs healthy volunteers to be matched with a vulnerable member of the community.
