Seahawks’ Dunbar and Giants’ Baker surrender to police

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar and New York Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker each surrendere­d to police in Broward County, Fla., Saturday after being charged with robbing people of money and valuables at a cookout they were attending. Baker and Dunbar are charged with four counts of armed robbery with a firearm and four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. Lawyers for both players says they have affidavits from witnesses that will clear them.

Police in Miramar, Fla., issued arrest warrants for both men after multiple witnesses accused them of an armed robbery at a party. Baker, 22, and Dunbar, 27, were attending a cookout Wednesday night when a fight broke out, and Baker pulled out a handgun, the warrant said. Baker, Dunbar and two other men began robbing other people at the party of thousands of dollars in cash, watches and other valuables, witnesses told investigat­ors. More than $12,000 in cash and $63,000 in jewelry were alleged to have been taken.

The identity of the other two suspects were not released.

Both Baker and Dunbar were to stay overnight in Broward County jail and appear in Broward County Court on Sunday morning, at which time bond was to be set.

Latimer arrested: Washington wide receiver Cody Latimer was arrested on felony charges of assault early Saturday morning after shots reportedly were fired inside a Douglas County, Colo., apartment. Latimer has posted a $25,000 bond, police said.

According to a sheriff's department report, a witness said they heard arguing and what sounded like gunshots inside the apartment. One person was identified as having minor, nongunshot injuries.

McCaskey dies: Michael McCaskey, who led the Chicago Bears for nearly three decades following the death of his grandfathe­r George Halas, died at 76 after a lengthy battle with cancer, the team said.

The oldest of Ed and team matriarch Virginia McCaskey’s 11 children, Michael assumed operationa­l control of the franchise in 1983 following the death of Halas, a founding father of the NFL and the franchise. Michael’s brother George McCaskey took over in 2011.

Rams move: The Los Angeles Rams resigned defensive end Morgan Fox, who has been a depth contributo­r on the Rams’ defensive line since 2016, and released defensive tackle Tanzel Smart.
