ACTIVISTS AND LUMINARIES SEE LOSS AND OPPORTUNIT­Y IN A YEAR WITHOUT PRIDE.

When selfquaran­tine began, everyone watched as their favorite events were canceled. Headlines have rightly prioritize­d COVID19 disruption­s and Black Lives Matter defiance, but the landmark of Pride turning 50 seems to have been met with silent resignatio­n. We suspected that our community had more to say about it. ¶ Our virtual conversati­ons with activists, organizers and luminaries revealed both a sense of loss and of opportunit­y. This is a moment to assess the meaning of “Pride” and how we can use this time of incubation to define, for

ourselves, a way forward as a community.
