ACTIVISTS AND LUMINARIES SEE LOSS AND OPPORTUNITY IN A YEAR WITHOUT PRIDE.
When selfquarantine began, everyone watched as their favorite events were canceled. Headlines have rightly prioritized COVID19 disruptions and Black Lives Matter defiance, but the landmark of Pride turning 50 seems to have been met with silent resignation. We suspected that our community had more to say about it. ¶ Our virtual conversations with activists, organizers and luminaries revealed both a sense of loss and of opportunity. This is a moment to assess the meaning of “Pride” and how we can use this time of incubation to define, for
ourselves, a way forward as a community.
