Maria Del Carmen Navas Degiovanni

September 9, 1939 – July 6, 2020

-

Maria Degiovanni passed away peacefully in her home on July 6, 2020. She was born In Las Rosas Argentina where she met the love of her life Oscar Nestor Degiovanni. In Argentina she was an educator in her rural community. Later in life she went back to the classroom in San Francisco as a volunteer in her grandchildren’s school where she is remembered fondly. The young couple followed their dream to San Francisco in 1965. Her career in America included working for the Bechtel Corporation and later for the Environmental Protection Agency. Maria and Oscar spent 65 years of their life together and 55 years of it married. Maria was mostly known for kindness and her dedication to her religion, husband and family. She was a refined dignified woman and a great cook who taught her family love and culture through food. Maria and Oscar traveled the world but were always happiest in San Francisco, their City by the Bay. They thoroughly enjoyed their walks around the city and their cappuccinos in North Beach. She lost her love 14 months ago and they are now together forever. Maria is survived and will be painfully missed by her daughter Melina Karin Degiovanni and her son Edgar Oscar Degiovanni. Her greatest joy however will be her 6 grandchildren Zachary Vorsatz, Alexandra Vorsatz, Anthony Vorsatz, Leo Degiovanni, Oliver Degiovanni , and Franco Degiovanni. Due to Covid her services will be held privately. Donations to St. Dominic’s Church in San Francisco to the shrine of St. Jude would be appreciated in her honor.
