Six Browns players out after virus tests

The Browns will be without their top four wide receivers — Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, Donovan PeoplesJon­es and Khadarel Hodge — as well as starting middle linebacker B. J. Goodson and his backup, Jacob Phillips, for their game against the Jets on Sunday.

The six Browns players were placed on the reserve/ COVID19 list after Goodson tested positive for the coronaviru­s and the others were deemed close contacts. Wide receivers Ja’Marcus Bradley and Derrick Willies and linebacker Montrel Meander were promoted from the Browns’ practice squad.

New York will be played as scheduled, an NFL spokesman said.

After learning of Goodson’s result, the Browns delayed their flight to the New York area to do contact tracing. The team had been scheduled to leave Cleveland at 2: 45 p. m., but players were told to stay home until the tracing was finished.

Cleveland can clinch its first playoff berth since 2002 with a win.

Briefly: Former 49ers fullback Bruce Miller was activated by the Jaguars after serving a sixgame suspension for PED use. Miller has zero carries and one reception in seven games this season. The Jaguars also promoted former Stanford cornerback Quenton Meeks from their practice squad. ... The Bengals promoted former Stanford wide receiver Trenton Irwin from their practice squad. ... The Eagles promoted Jordan Howard, a 1,000yard rusher for the Bears in 2016 and 2017, to their active roster.
