Harold ( Hal) D. Feinberg

January 12, 1938 – December 21, 2020

Harold ( Hal) D. Feinberg was born in Hawaii to Hyman ( Hy) and Anne Feinberg. During Hal’s early childhood, he lived in Hawaii, New York, Washington DC and Massachuse­tts before his family settled in Concord, California, where Hal attended elementary and high school. He went on to attend San Francisco State where he earned his Physical Education teaching credential. Hal taught Physical Education and coached basketball and soccer at Portola Junior High in San Francisco for 2 years. He then transferre­d to Presidio Middle School. After 15 years at Presidio, he received his counseling credential and eventually became the school’s head counselor. During his time at Presidio, Hal organized many ski trips to Tahoe for the students. He also ran many fundraiser­s over the years for the student body. Hal also coached swimming and water polo at Burlingame High.

During the summer breaks from school, Hal drove a Gray Line sightseein­g bus giving tours of San Francisco, Monterey, Carmel and Muir Woods.

Hal retired at age 60 after teaching for 34 years.

Hal was married to Abby ( Ginsberg) Feinberg for 27 years. They had 2 daughters, Dina ( Fitch) and Debbie ( Kehrberg). Three years after Abby passed away from ALS, Hal married Norma Di- Falco – Feinberg. Hal and Norma spent 30 + years together along with their loving and faithful little poodle, Katie.

Hal was an avid sports fan. He loved his Bay Area sports teams as well as the Stanford Cardinal’s teams. And Hal not only enjoyed watching sports but was an active participan­t in many sporting activities. He loved to ski and spent many years skiing the down the slopes in Tahoe, Colorado, Utah and even went helicopter skiing in Canada with Norma.

Hal also played Senior Softball and was the treasurer of The Northern California Senior Softball Associatio­n. Hal also managed 2 teams and served on the board of directors for many years. In 2015, he was inducted in to the California Senior Softball Associatio­n Hall of Fame.

Hal and Norma enjoyed traveling and took trips abroad as well as many road trips throughout the States with their faithful little companion, Katie. Hal had a wonderful sense of humor and was an outgoing and extremely social person who enjoyed meeting and talking to new people.

Hal is survived by his loving daughters, Dina ( Ray) Fitch, their 2 children, Danielle and Joey ( fiancé’ Nazi Kahn), his daughter Debbie Kehrberg and her daughter, Charlotte, his step- daughter Elena ( Kevin) and their 2 daughters Michelle ( Jeffrey) and Melanie ( Stephen) as well as 4 great grandsons, his sister Harriet Rosen, and her children, Howard ( Susan) and Shelia Erger ( Jim) and their 3 boys.

Hal will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
