Beverley Laird Nelson passed away after a brief but courageous fight against lung cancer on December 21, 2020 at the age of 86. Bev was born March 14, 1934 in San Francisco to Clarence and Margaret ( Couper) Nelson. After graduating from Abraham Lincoln High ( 1951) and studying two years at SF City College, Bev began her global travels. In her mid 20s, she traveled throughout the Middle East. In her 30s, she spent several months roaming the streets of European cities. Her lifelong dream had been to study art in Paris.

In her professional life, Bev began her career at the patent law firm Flehr, Swain and Hohbach as Harold Hohbach’s legal secretary. She also worked in Domestic Relations at the San Francisco Superior Court.

Her past times included cooking, painting, knitting, reading historical fiction, theater and studying Russian. She loved to watch Jeopardy and once was able to answer all of the questions correctly. She loved animals, especially dogs. Bev was pre- deceased by her sister, Adrienne Fogarty, her niece Margaret Jeannine Fogarty and her nephew Clifton Fogarty. She is survived by her niece, Kathy Fogarty, her nephew’s wife, Gina Sahagun, her great nieces and great nephews and a great- great grandnephew. She is also survived by cousins and many friends.

A special thank you to Terry Fogarty for her kindness toward Bev while she was a resident of AlmaVIA. Also the family would like to express immense gratitude to Suncrest Hospice RN Tasha Yuen for her compassionate care and to all the staff at AlmaVIA, particularly Marcy, Adora and Fr Freddie who assisted Beverley over the last three years. Due to Covid- 19, a memorial will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Tony LaRussa’s ARF organization, the World War II Memorial or a charity of your choice.
