Edward Robertson Kleinsorge
March 25,1945 - December 24,2020
Edward was born in San Francisco, the son of William Philip Kleinsorge and Evelyn Jane McKisick Kleinsorge, a fourth generation Californian. He attended Town School and graduated from Lincoln High School in the City.
Tragically, Eddie had his first psychotic break when his was 20 years old, but managed to finish his college studies in business at Sacramento State University. Shortly after graduating, however, he had another episode from which he never regained a stable sense of reality. He spent much of his life in care facilities, struggling for normalcy, but psychotropic medications were sorely inadequate at the time. His reality never extended beyond 1966.
As a child and teenager, Eddie was sweet natured and kind, not to mention handsome. He had a precociousness that often got him into hot water, but he was beloved by his friends. Over the years he won the hearts of his care takers, who appreciated his playful humor and fascinating stories, some true, some fantasies. He had an encyclopedic memory for all things: jazz, politics, cars, the stock market and movie stars that existed before 1966. Despite the challenges of his mental condition, Eddie had an extraordinary will to live and was able to overcome several near death illnesses. Now he is at peace.
He is survived and mourned by his brothers Alanson Herrick Kleinsorge and William Peter Kleinsorge and his sister, Louise Kleinsorge Williams. If you wish to remember him, please send your donation to Idylwood Care Center, 1002 W. Fremont Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94087 in support of the phenomenal staff.
