Leander James (Jim) Hall passed away on January 7, 2021. A proud native of San Francisco, Jim was born on August 27, 1943 and attended Lincoln High School. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he met the love of his life, Kathleen McManus, and married in July of 1965. Together they raised their five children in Pacifica, CA.

He started his career as a pipe fitter working in the San Francisco shipyards, spent years at Onizuka Air Force Base and ended it at the San Francisco Zoo where he enjoyed bringing both his children and grandchild­ren, too.

Jim was devoted to his wife and extended family. After retiring, he and Kathy enjoyed spending time each year in Puerto Vallarta, where they made lifelong friends as well. He was an active member of many San Francisco history organizati­ons, sharing memories of growing up in San Francisco working at his father’s Gertie Guernsey ice cream store and hanging out at San Francisco’s Playland By the Sea. Hall, Cynthia Davidson (Jon), Michael Hall (Tracey), and Kevin Hall (Misty) as well as his grandchild­ren Michelle (Damon), Jenna Davidson, Austyn Hall, Kaylee Hall, Connor Davidson,

Lyla Hall, Ethan Hall, Jamie Hall, Logan Hall, Alyssa Davidson, Emily Davidson and great grandson Dominic Weed. He is also survived by his sister Melodie Mayo, his brother Gilbert Martinelli, nephews Philip Montalbano and Craig McManus and nieces Melissa Monte and Karen McManus.

Private Family Services were held at Holy Cross Cemetery on January 13, 2021.
