Cal comes up short in Bradley’s return

Freshman Evan Mobley scored 17 of his seasonhigh 25 points in the second half, Tahj Eaddy added 18 points and USC beat Cal 7668 in Berkeley.

Mobley made 12 of 15 from the freethrow line and also had eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks for the Trojans (123, 62 Pac12) .

Grant Anticevich and Joel Brown led Cal (710, 28) with 15 points apiece. Matt Bradley, who went into the game averaging a teamhigh 17.8 points, had 11 points on 5of14 shooting in 24 minutes. The 6foot4 junior returned after missing the last five games, and seven of the last nine, due to ankle injuries. San Jose State 83, New Mexico 71: Five players scored in double figures for the Spartans (311, 19 Mountain West) to grab the team’s first conference win against the host Lobos (59, 19).

Santa Clara 72, Loyola Marymount 69: Josip Vrankic had 24 points and 12 rebounds as the Broncos (94, 32 WCC) edged past the host Lions (76, 23). Jalen Williams had 18 points for Santa Clara. Guglielmo Caruso added 13 points and three blocks.

Oregon St. 75, #21 Oregon 64: Ethan Thompson scored 19 points and Abdul Alatishe added 14 as the Beavers (85, 43 Pac12) beat the visiting Ducks (93, 42).

Colorado 70, Washington State 59: Evan Battey had 16 points on 6of11 shooting, McKinley Wright IV added all 12 of his points in the second half, and the visiting Buffaloes (124, 63 Pac 12) rallied from an 18point firsthalf deficit to beat the Cougars (96, 26).

Gonzaga’s home winning streak is at 47, the longest in the nation.

#2 Baylor 81, Oklahoma State 66: Jared Butler scored 22 points and the Bears (14-0, 7-0) overcame a halftime deficit to beat the shorthande­d Cowboys (9-4, 3-4) in Stillwater, Okla.

#3 Villanova 71, Providence 56: Collin Gillespie and Justin Moore scored 15 points apiece and the host Wildcats (10-1, 5-0 Big East) beat the Friars (8-7, 4-5) for their eighth straight victory. #19 Missouri 73, #6 Tennessee 64: Xavier Pinson scored 27 points to lead the Tigers (10-2, 4-2 SEC) to a victory over the host Volunteers (10-3, 4-3), who have lost their last two games.

#8 Houston 68, Temple 51: Marcus Sasser and Quentin Grimes each scored 15 points and the visiting Cougars (13-1, 8-1 AAC) rolled to their sixth straight victory, beating the Owls (3-4, 2-4).

Oklahoma 75, #9 Kansas 68: De’Vion Harmon scored 22 points and the host Sooners (9-4, 5-3 Big 12) beat the Jayhawks (10-5, 4-4) for their second victory of the month over a Top 10 opponent.

#15 Ohio State 74, #10 Wisconsin 62: E.J. Liddell scored 20 points and the Buckeyes (12-4, 6-4 Big Ten) never trailed in a victory over the host Badgers (12-4, 6-3).

#11 Creighton 74, #23 Connecticu­t 66: Denzel Mahoney scored 20 points and Bluejays (11-4, 7-3 Big East) broke open a close game in the last 10 minutes to beat the visiting Huskies (7-3, 4-3).

#13 Virginia 64, Georgia Tech 62: Sam Hauser scored 11 of his 22 points during a 15-2 second-half run and the host Cavaliers (10-2, 6-0 ACC) survived a scare before rallying to beat the Yellow Jackets (7-4, 3-2).

#14 West Virginia 69, Kansas St. 47: Miles McBride scored 18 points to help the Mountainee­rs (10-4, 3-3 Big 12) beat the host Wildcats (5-11, 1-7) in West Virginia’s first game in two weeks because of COVID-19 protocols.

Doelzaj added 18 and Alan Griffin had 15 points, 10 rebounds and a careerhigh seven blocks to help the Orange (9-4, 3-3 ACC) beat the visiting Hokies (11-3, 5-2).

Eric Ayala had 21 points and three steals to help the Terrapins (9-7, 3-6) deliver another road upset of a ranked Big Ten opponent, a wire-to-wire victory over the Gophers (11-5, 4-5).

#18 Alabama 81, Mississipp­i St. 73: Herbert Jones had 17 points and seven assists to help the streaking Crimson Tide (13-3, 8-0 SEC) beat the visiting Bulldogs (9-7, 4-4).

Florida State 80, #20 Clemson 61:

Balsa Koprivica had 13 points and 10 rebounds and the Gators (9-2, 5-1 ACC) pulled away early to rout the visiting Tigers (9-4, 3-4) for their fourth straight victory.

USF 67, Santa Clara 54: Amalie Langer scored 21 points as the Dons (6-8, 2-6 WCC) beat the host Broncos (8-6, 4-4).

St. Mary’s 69, LMU 65: Taycee Wedin scored 24 points as the host Gaels (4-10, 2-6 WCC) downed the Lions (5-8, 4-4).

#3 Connecticu­t 72, Georgetown 41: Olivia Nelson-Ododa scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Huskies (10-0, 9-0 Big East) to a win over the visiting Hoyas (1-5, 1-5).

#9 Baylor 84, Oklahoma 61: NaLyssa Smith scored 21 points, Moon Ursin had 14 points with 11 rebounds and the Lady Bears (10-2, 5-1 Big 12) overwhelme­d the visiting Sooners (4-7, 1-5).
