Joseph Marion Rimac, Jr., passed away at the age of 65 on January 16, 2017, in San Francisco, CA, of pancreatic cancer. He is missed by his family, friends, and colleagues who were fortunate to experience his good humor, joy of life, debating skills, and adventurou­s spirit. An esteemed attorney with more than 40 years in law, Joe was always one to help a family member or friend in need, looking after others, and extending a helping hand or legal advice.

Joe was born on July 27, 1951, in Ellwood City, PA, to Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Badger) Rimac. He was raised in Palo Alto, CA, before his family moved to San Jose, CA, and then Birmingham, MI. He graduated from Seaholm High School in 1969, with honors. Joe earned his Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University (1973) and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School (1976), where he served as an instructor in legal writing.

Joe was licensed to practice law in California in all aspects of civil litigation, and served on behalf of clients in state and federal courts throughout the United States and internatio­nally. He was a member of the American Bar Associatio­n, Bar Associatio­n of California, and the Defense Research Institute. Joe cofounded Rimac Martin P.C. in San Francisco in 1998, and remained with the law firm until his death.

At the time of his passing, Joe was survived by his father, Joseph Rimac, Sr., of Smith River, CA; sisters Cynthia J. Brown (Edward) of Crescent City, CA, and Linda Rimac Colberg (Ron) of Walnut Creek, CA; brother Robert Rimac of Palm Springs, CA; and nieces Kristina Brown and Allison Colberg. He was predecease­d by his mother Mary Elizabeth, who passed away in October 2000. Joe was buried at Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto, CA, on January 23, 2017.
