Michael Joseph Coyle

Michael Joseph Coyle, age 82, was lifted up with the angels in Heaven on March 13, 2021. He passed peacefully surrounded by family. Michael was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 21, 1938. He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help grade school and Central Catholic High School where he played trombone and acted in the annual musicals.

Michael entered St. Meinrad College Seminary following high school. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. He furthered his education studying theology at St. Mary’s Seminary in Cincinnati while he simultaneo­usly earned a Master’s degree in Education from Xavier University. Michael was married to his wife, Bridget, for more than 46 years. They have two children, Ciara and Mark. Michael stayed active in the St. Brendan parish, his children’s school activities and city events. He and Bridget loved traveling and would often set sail on cruises, spend time in Lake Tahoe, or visit their children in Southern California.

Michael Coyle is survived by his wife, Bridget Coyle, of San Francisco, originally from Ireland, their two children, their spouses, three grandchild­ren and five siblings, Jim, John, Joe, Ned and Kitty. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lillian and two siblings, Bill and Mary Anne.

A viewing will take place at St. Brendan at 10 a.m. Monday, March 22, followed by a Funeral Mass and a private burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.

His family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the wonderful caregivers who were so dedicated to Michael during his long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Gifts in Michael’s name may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation at parkinson.org
