Edwin Lee Holt
March 5, 1937 - February 7, 2021
Edwin Lee Holt, 83, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, February 7, 2021 after enduring a several-year struggle with a neurological disease. He will live forever in the hearts of his family including his wife, Avis Begoun; son, Mike Holt; daughter, Kelly Holt; and sister, Mary Lou Klotthor. He is predeceased by his eldest daughter Kendra Holt (1967-2009). Ed graduated from Glendale High, Glendale, CA.
Sports was a passion all his life, both as a fan and as an athlete. He played both baseball and basketball for Westmont College—a highlight was playing in the national basketball championship his senior year.
Another calling was taking care of people. He took a great interest in and loved connecting with others. He obtained his MDiv from Fuller Theological Seminary and became a youth minister at San Gabriel Union Baptist and later at College Avenue Baptist church. He relocated his family of five from Southern California to Redwood City in 1975 to be the director at Peninsula Covenant
Church Community Center swim and tennis club. He later obtained an MBA from Pepperdine University and co-founded Sequoia Counseling Services. His passion for helping others continued with his establishment of A Wedding Ministry where he counseled couples and officiated their weddings until he retired in 2012.
The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the expressions of love, concern, and kindness shown to them in this time of bereavement. A life tribute to Ed will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CurePSP a 501(c) (3) charity.
