Matthews, Campbell lead streaking Leafs

Toronto’s Auston Matthews scored three times to increase his NHLleading goals total to 31, Jack Campbell made 27 saves to set an NHL record for consecutiv­e victories to start a season and the Maple Leafs beat the visiting Ottawa Senators 65 on Saturday night.

Mitch Marner added a goal and three assists for Northleadi­ng Toronto, which has won six straight.

“A nice two points,” Matthews said. “But not the prettiest win.”

Matthews had the third hat trick of his career, and also had an assist for a fourpoint night. He has five straight 30goal seasons to start his career.

Matthews and Marner each have 52 points through 41 games to become the first Maple Leafs to crack the halfcentur­y mark in that span since 194243.

Campbell broke the mark of 10 consecutiv­e wins to start a season set by Montreal’s Carey Price in 201617.

“I definitely owe the boys a nice Red Lobster dinner, that’s for sure,” Campbell said.

Flames 5, Oilers 0: Jacob Markstrom stopped all 17 Edmonton shots and five players scored for host Calgary.

Flyers 3, Bruins 2: Sean Couturier broke a tie midway through the third period to lift Philadelph­ia at home. Brian Elliott stopped 29 shots to help the Flyers move to four points behind Boston for the fourth and final playoff spot in the NHL’s East Division.

Jets 5, Canadiens 0: Connor Hellebuyck made 19 saves for his second shutout of the season and Andrew Copp, Nikolaj Ehlers and Mathieu Perrault each had a goal and an assist in Winnipeg’s road victory.

Lightning 3, Predators 0: Andrei Vasilevski­y made 36 saves and visiting Tampa Bay earned its fourth victory in six games.

Blackhawks 4, Blue Jackets 3: Alex DeBrincat had a goal and an assist, Kevin Lankinen stopped 23 shots and Chicago rallied to win in Columbus.

Blues 3, Wild 2: Ryan O’Reilly scored at 4:58 of overtime to lift St. Louis at home. Mike Hoffman scored twice for the Blues.

Stars 4, Panthers 1: Rookie Jason Robertson scored twice for his first multigoal NHL game in Dallas’ home victory.

Red Wings 5, Hurricanes 4: Adam Erne scored in the seventh round of the shootout to lift visiting Detroit.
