Jerry Adamson, 85, resident of Berkeley, CA for sixty years, passed away on March 11, 2021 surrounded by family. Jerry was born and raised on a farm near Motor, Iowa, the eighth of eleven children. Jerry moved to Berkeley, CA where he met and married Nancy Varney in 1956. They raised five children, and were married until Nancy’s death in 2007. Jerry worked at Donner Laboratory at UC Berkeley from 1958 to retirement in 1989. He co-authored, with Dr. Lindgren, several publicatio­ns on lipoprotei­ns. Jerry will be remembered for his kindness, honesty and sense of humor. He was an avid reader and crossword-puzzle solver. Jerry and Nancy shared with their children their love of nature and the importance of land stewardshi­p. In 2015 Jerry moved from Berkeley to his son David’s home in Newport, OR. Jerry is survived by his five children Helen (Ferran), Mel (Bent), Susan, David and Arthur (Claire); fifteen grandchild­ren, two greatgrand­children, six siblings, and close friend JB Jones. Jerry’s ashes will be buried next to Nancy’s ashes in the Waldron Island cemetery (San Juan Islands, WA).
