On Friday, March 19, 2021, Jean-Pierre A. Fortin passed away at the age of 55. Jean-Pierre was born in Cape May, NJ to Sylvester and Gisele Fortin. He grew up in Kentucky and Virginia prior to relocating to San Francisco in 1996 to expand his career in the travel and hospitality industry.
Jean-Pierre had a passion for travel, history, genealogy and photography. His photography had been featured in local galleries and integral to his social media activity. He was also an avid music lover and book collector who travelled for live music and art shows including some of the earlier Burning Man festivals. He was known for his intellect, dry wit, and his love for nostalgia, whether it be classic cinema, world events, or cultural trivia. Jean-Pierre was preceded by the death of his father, Sylvester and survived by his mother Gisele, several uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces. He is alo survived by his chosen family of Kathryn Halleran Barry, Anne Pittman, and Daniel Carfora of San Francisco; Robyn Clark of Newport News, VA; and Elaine Pritchard of South Mills, NC.
