Our family has lost its cherished matriarch at the grand age of 98. Predeceased by George, her beloved husband of 56 years and survived by her six children and their spouses, Sue Mangel (Don), John Anderson, Liz Tesi (Aldo), Nan Monticelli, Jean DeMartini (Rich), and Joan Radsliff (Peter). Mom delighted in her thirteen grandchildren, Aldo, Amy, Gina, Sara, Katie, Monica, Jeffrey, Kevin, Annie, David, Jack, Ellen, and Patrick. She was looking forward to getting to know the newest additions to the family, her great grandchildren Reagan, Riley, Brady and Harper. Mom was a proud Oakland native. She and our father often spoke of how wonderful it was to have grown up in The Town. She was a graduate of Holy Names High School and UC Berkeley.

Her family, her Catholic faith, and her Irish heritage were central to mom’s life. Mom demonstrated great faith and strength throughout her life. Her example is a gift that we will treasure throughout our lives.

In addition to our father, mom reunites with her parents, Mary and Maurice Kavanaugh as well as her brothers, Dave, Bud, and Jack Kavanaugh. Mom, we love you and we will miss you every day. Thank you for all that you were and all that you did for us.

If you are inclined to honor Mary Jane’s legacy, please consider a donation to Our Lady of Angels Church, Burlingame, California.
