San Francisco Chronicle - (Sunday)
Edward John Rossi
Ed was born in San Francisco December
29, 1919. A proud 3rd generation San Franciscan, he passed peacefully in his sleep on April 23, 2021 at 101 years in Petaluma, CA. Ed lived a wonderful life, independently till the end. Proceeded by his wife Josephine, son Jimmy, brothers Robert and Jack. Loving father to Phil (Michele) and Eddie. The best grandfather to Jesse (Audrey), Nicole, Andrea, Lauren and Matt (Clare) Rossi. Papa to Tony Dini. Great Grandpa to Evan and Connor. Also, survived by close friend Jo Jo Buono. Ed was a proud Balboa High School graduate, served in the Army during WW II, was a skilled Iron Worker, and a dedicated employee at the SF’s DeYoung Museum until his retirement 40 years ago. He loved his family, friends and large extended family. He loved to swim, enjoyed a good steak, a nice glass of wine, and the company of others. He was an avid reader, a thoughtful conversationalist, enjoyed traveling, watching sports, playing the ponies and slots, and is dancing in heaven to the sound of the Big Bands. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Ed was laid to rest at Holy Cross in SF. A private service was held. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. We’d like to thank Hospice of Petaluma for their support the last 2 weeks.
