Michael passed away May 25 at his home, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in San Francisco on Feb. 28, 1965 to his parents Mary-Alice and Jack Hickey. The Hickey’s lived in San Francisco for the next five years until they moved to Novato Ca. which Michael immediately adopted as his town. He played Pop Warner football, Little League and Babe Ruth baseball where he met so many life long friends.

Michael married the love of his life Terri, his Blossom, and together they had twin boys, Mitchell (Shelbi) and Bradley, who enriched their family by giving them two grandsons, Bradley’s boy, Tommy and Mitchell’s boy, Calvin.

Michael was the oldest of five siblings, with John (Melissa), his late sister, Jennifer Wyrsch (Greg) Kevin (Sarah), and Deanna (Jason Luiz). He had many adoring nieces and nephews and a whole lot of cousins who treated each other like brothers and sisters. Michael was also very fortunate to marry into and be part of another loving family, The Weddle family of Novato. Michael was a 1983 graduate of San Marin High School where he played football and added to his cadre of many friends. He attended Santa Rosa J. C. were he decided to follow his firefighting family into the fire service. Mike, with his best friend and brother John, started in the Presidio Fire Department, then to the Tiburon Fire Department and along with his brother, landed in the Redwood City Fire Department. There after more than thirty years of fire service and after acquiring so many very close friends he retired as a Captain.

Mike was a fun loving person who had a very notable, unique and infectious laugh. He loved to party and dance some of the craziest moves you would ever see. He loved history, especially WW II history, he was our expert historian.

Mike loved his family, his friends and his firefighting family. Mike was loved and will be missed by so many. God bless you Michael.

Mike’s rosary will be at Keaton’s Mortuary, 1801 Novato Blvd., Novato, on Tuesday, 6/22/21 at 6:00-8:00 PM.
