San Francisco Chronicle - (Sunday)
Cynthia Kane Hyman, CNS RN
June 30, 1951 - June 13, 2021
In her private life, Cynthia was a beloved and loving wife, and mother to four children: Miles Hyman of Paris, France; Gretchen Hyman of Los Angeles; Bodie Hyman of Los Angeles and Nathaniel Hyman of Sacramento. She was grandmother to seven, and sister to her three siblings. The pride Cynthia felt in her family nourished her daily and was spoken about with a soft, inner smile. She shared many interests with her husband, Laurence, including a life-long passion for the visual, written and performing arts. Cynthia and Laurence had recently worked together on many projects, including Executive Producing a feature film and editing a compilation of letters for a biographical book on the life of the author Shirley Jackson (Laurence’s mother). They traveled extensively over the decades, most fondly to Ireland, France, Greece, Hawaii and Bora Bora. Whether she was traveling or at home, Cynthia had a deep regard for the nature around her. She loved gardening at her home in Occidental, California.
We will miss Cynthia profoundly, even as she will always be remembered as a profound inspiration in our lives and to this world. May she rest peacefully among the redwoods. A memorial gathering to remember and celebrate Cynthia’s life will be announced in the near future to family and friends.
The mortuary is Parent/ Sorenson in Sebastopol, California. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a fund in Cynthia’s name at The Children’s Museum of Sonoma County, Santa Rosa, CA.
