Fourth of July: Fireworks shows and more ways to celebrate.

- By Anne Schrager

There will be fireworks in the San Francisco skies once again, as well as in other Bay Area cities, in honor of the Fourth of July. This year, the possibility of overcast weather can reclaim its spot as the No. 1 concern during the Pier 39/ Fisherman’s Wharf light show, sponsored by the city.

Whether or not it turns out to be a clear day, the federal holiday celebrating Independence Day is here to provide the perfect excuse to have some oldfashioned fun. Light the barbecue grill, grab an instrument and pull up a chair for an impromptu backyard jam session at home; get out on the water with a bay cruise; party along with a bar crawl; or find joy with a wide variety of live music and other entertainment events.

As the Bay Area fully reopens, there’s no need to look far to find ways to celebrate with family, friends and neighbors during the upcoming holiday weekend. Don’t forget to be firesafe, and keep masked and socially distant as instructed.
