A photograph showing a structure near the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center was captioned incorrectly in the story, which began on the Front Page. The image is that of an Archimedes Screw, a windmillpowered pump once used widely to move water within Bay Area salt ponds.

VTA set to restore lightrail service, July 9, Bay Area, B4

The story mischaracterized the Valley Transportation Authority’s lightrail service after the San Jose mass shooting. The agency tried to serve lightrail routes with bus substitutions, but stopped on May 31 because of staffing shortages.
