James Allen Mayer III
January 30, 1942 - June 28, 2021
Mr. James Allen Mayer III, born in San Francisco to the late Ruth and James Jr, passed away suddenly at age 79 at his home in Alamo. James is survived by his loving son, Chris of Alamo, sister Joan of Walnut Creek, and brother Peter of Spokane. James had a great passion for golf, house renovations, and especially family. He was well known for both being serious and fun, always joking at work and with friends. His excellence in business, starting at Bank of America in San Francisco, led him down the road to leading Lamorinda National Bank, Mt. Diablo National Bank, and Diablo Valley Bank to top successes in the business banking world. He never took credit for the successes, always attributing it to the people he worked with.
While business was his career, his passion always was for family and golf. With his dearly beloved wife, Carolyn, who passed away 2 years ago, they raised their son, remodeled their homes, and planted a garden worthy of Sunset magazine.
Family and friends are welcome to attend the viewing and funeral service, officiated by Rev. Gerard K. Moran on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Viewing is from 10:00am - 10:30am, then a Funeral Mass from 10:30am to 11:30am at St. Isidore Church, 440 La Gonda, Danville. Burial immediately following at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1965 Reliez Valley Rd., Lafayette, CA 94549
