2 men pistolwhipped in Oakland robbery
Oakland police are investigating what they call a brazen daytime armed robbery in which two people were pistolwhipped near Madison Park on Thursday afternoon, officers said.
Two attackers — one of whom was carrying a black handgun with an extended magazine — approached a man who was standing in the 200 block of Ninth Street in Oakland at 3:15 p.m. and “used force to take the man’s belongings,” Oakland police said Friday.
The person with the gun pistolwhipped the man, prompting a witness to try to help the victim, police said.
The witness was then pistolwhipped by the same person.
The attackers then got into a vehicle that had been waiting nearby and traveled east on Ninth Street, police said. A third person was in the vehicle, police said.
The attackers were identified as men in their 20s between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, one weighing 180 to 200 pounds and the other 160 to 180 pounds.
