Bob Charles Dougherty

Bob Dougherty, 40 year resident of San Francisco, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2021. Bob was born in Oklahoma 12/5/1925 to Nellie and Charles Dougherty, the youngest of 6 children. He served in the US Army during the Asia Pacific Campaign and is a Korean War Veteran. Upon return, Bob graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He married Ruth Schwartz (predeceased) in 1955. They resided in Colorado, New Mexico and Marin County CA. They are survived by their 3 children, Michael, Nancy (Morra), Cecelia (Rhodes) and 5 grandchildren.
After retiring from medical group management in the 70’s, Bob found his passion for nightclub ownership and management with his long time partner, Perry Thompson and John Chidsey. He enjoyed encouraging, promoting and giving opportunities to young musicians, many of which are famous in the music world today.
In addition to being a SF Giant fan, Bob enjoyed dozens of cruises, the crossword puzzles in the Chronicle, betting on the gray horse, blackjack, a good gin and tonic, and being a top supporter of Jazz in the Bay Area.
He retired from tending bar at the young age of 92. So please join us, raise your glass and give a toast to Sweet Ole Bob.
Happy King Leong, loving mother, passed away at the Montecito Oakmont residential home in Concord, CA. Born in Courtland, CA and life-long San Franciscan. She was the last in her generation to pass as well as living the longest celebrating her 100th birthday during the COVID pandemic. Survived by her daughter Deri (Bob Miller) of Altadena, CA, son
